Why not?  I keep one in my pack for runs after 2 pm.

I had a response in mind but can't remember what I was going to say.  Pass the chips...

Deer Valley Utah's probably the safest place for you.  Please move there ASAP!

Just like pussy as used for a weak person is falsely assumed to be of misogynistic origin (it comes from nothing related to women/vulvas at all in origin)-- though in modern usage it tends to offend people because the weakness-related origin has been confused/mashed up with a different meaning for the term that has a different etymology.

Now that's the kind of pedantry that I can't figure out... should I be laying on or off the pipe?

Maybe some folk should be substituting some old school sensemilla for the crack in their pipe; that should mellow them out a bit.

Intrigued by all this apparent misogyny that seemed to blow right over my head, I looked up the origin of the word.  I traced it back a few hundred years to a bag used to strain sugar out of some recipe, much like using cheese-cloth to remove stuff from a liquid by pouring the liquid through it.  Makes sense as it removes scum from a liquid and then the scum is already in a bag.    I don't see how this is "woman hating".

For that matter with reference to its more recent use, it's later use as a pseudonym for a condom,  How is condom woman hating?

For that matter how is a vesel used to hold a solution used for cleaning a womans anatomy misogynistic?

There's plenty of misogyny going around without inventing some where none is intended.

Of course, I've been wrong before though.  Maybe it's that the term is associated with female anatomy and has become a perjorative term, similar to how "That's just gay"  as a negative is considered a slight on homosexuals.

Ghost: I hope you don't think that I was arguing any of those words are misogynistic. In fact, I was arguing the opposite. I just took a little stroll down a detour to get there.

As some others have noted, yes, I'm back. But I didn't leave because of any site-related things. I was traveling... skiing in India/Gulmarg-- hence the bhang lassi reference. Something I didn't partake in while skiing... because I prefer my distractions (music, intoxicants, etc) AFTER I get off the snow. But I'm fine with people choosing to use theirs, while maintaining control, on the snow.

Things stoners do on the slopes:

  • Space out while it is time to move up towards the next spot in the lift corral, or worse, when it is time to push up to the bullwheel and catch the chair coming around.
  • Space out when it is time to lift the bar and unload.. That is actually a pretty funny one watching them scramble to get their gloves back on, pop the bar up (assuming they had it down) and hop off the chair before it goes round the bullwheel to the stop stick.

Mostly stoners are pretty harmless on the slopes compared to drunks and people on hard drugs.

Ever get stuck riding the lift with someone all coked up?

"Infused" products have been around for a long time.  It's probably the biggest potential market in the area.  Cheba Chews are my favorite.  Most edibles don't work for me.  The Cheba Chew decadose does the trick.

Still, the most dangerous and idiotic people on the slopes are tourists from New York, Dallas, Rio, Sao Paulo or whatever disgusting city they crawled out of.  A stoner's lack of cognizance is pure genius compared to sheer obliviousness and inconsiderateness of the aforementioned city scum.

We call them guests where I come from . I am grateful they come. Stick to the trees ,they don't often go there and if they do ,celebrate that.

You call them that because that's what you're paid to call them.  The locals and non-corporate shills call them @ssholes.

+1

I'd rather have a horde of tourists (read: sticking to pistes or very easily accesible off-piste) and a handful of down locals (fun to ski with, carrying equipment) than hordes of locals (chewing up all the best off-piste by noon, getting super territorial and aggressive) and only a few JONGs (not enough to subsidize my ticket).

At least here in Tirol, once you clear the parking lot and accessible lifts-- usually the lower ones on boring terrain-- all tourists do is serve to pay full price for tickets and stick almost entirely to stuff I wouldn't want to ski even if I had the whole mountain to myself.

It's the locals-- as chill, like-minded, and steezy as they are-- who use up my powder. And I'd far rather have a 95% tourists/5% chill locals breakdown than the opposite.

And when I really want to get away from it... that's what my skins are for.

Your fellow locals and local ski town in general would be a non-existent shithole without those '@ssholes' but I wouldn't expect you to understand economics. Those '@ssholes' bring in a ton of money to your town, I would bet it is the main source of income. You want a nice mountain but no touris, just you and your local buddies? Since there would be 4-5% of the sales your season pass would cost 20x more, thats right your season pass would cost more than a car, can you afford a ~$20,000 season pass, doubt it, and you definitely couldn't afford it in that situation because of the lack of income to the town and decreased flow of money. If the resort doesn't make money - they dont hire employees there for less jobs for locals, no tourist - no hotels or restaurants, no hotels and restraints - less jobs for locals, less jobs for locals - shitty economy. So with out those '@ssholes' you would be living in a poor small mountain town with out a resort.

My fellow locals?  haha.  There aren't any left.  They've all been run out of town by the millionaires and billionaires.  A local around this place is someone who built a 15,000 square foot house to live in 2 weeks a year. Also, there's no possible way for my town to be a non-existent shithole.  It's one of the most beautiful places on earth.  The only problem is it's been overrun by city scum. Get rid of the scum and we'll have a beautiful, little town again.

One night last summer I got really stoned and decided to try to learn how to adjust my new bindings and that is how I ended up on epicski.

On sunny weekend days, and even some weekdays, the county cops are sitting in the parking lot at Baker.

On Monday I finally saw an indication of the new MJ law at Mt. Baker.  There were a group of young guys in the lodge having lunch and one of them was rolling joints on the table.  Nobody lit up and there was less than an ounce, so it was legal under state law.  It looked pretty odd, though.  I suppose that they could have been busted since it was on Federal land, but the Federales were not in view.
