Today was my third day out on these skis (Atomic GS Race, 175 cm, R>23). I am usually a slalom ski guy, and frankly was a bit nervous to take these out on the hill except for early morning runs and weekdays.
I am finding these skis to be surprisingly easy to ski - not at all like the Atomic GS skis of the old days (Beta Race) which I found locked me into one big, scary turn shape at speed.
I can easily slide them around at low speeds when skiing with the wife, and I can make nice carved shorter radius turns at slower - medium speeds - they bend into a nice smooth powerful arc, and hold like there's no tomorrow - at medium speeds! Today we had about 4 inches of snow on top of hard pack, and even at the end of the day when I had piles of snow alternating with hard pack, they were just fun, making lots of turns at medium speeds.
And they hold - of course - at high speeds on groomers.
So I'm really kinda surprised at how versatile they are. They are much easier to ski all day than my Fischer WC SL hole ski. The only down side is it makes my ski area in NH feel small all of a sudden :-)
Any feedback on how I'm finding the ski? Just seemed surprising and unusual for a FIS GS ski.
