Rossi vs Volkl for women -- advise please

Thread Starter
Hi - I am an intermediate skier who is improving and becoming more agressive (my boyfriend is an expert level skier and I don't like being left behind). I am in the market to buy my first pair of shaped skis. Two shops have recommended the Volkl 20-20s either the S or G11 style - while another shop has suggested the Rossi Rebels. I live in the Northeast where it tends to be a bit icy. Does anyone have any knowledge of these skis and or suggestions? Chances are slim that I will be able to make it to a hill to do any demoing. Thanks. Also any tips on the transition from straight to curved skis would be appreciated.<FONT size="1">

Kim,
The Volkl S 20-20 is for people learning to carve. If you are a fast learner, then I am not sure you'll be able to grow much with this ski. The G11 and V11 20-20's are more advanced. The G11 is desgined more for pow and crud than hardpack and ice, although it performs reasonably well on them. For packed and icy eastern conditions, I think the V11 20-20 may be your best bet. Demo it and see.

Mrs. Skicrazy skis Rossi Rebels and LOVES them. However, we live in Colorado and ski mostly powder/packed powder conditions. She has complained that the Rebels do not grip well on ice and prefers her older Atomics for slick conditions. If there is any way you can demo before you buy, PLEASE do so!

Kimberly,
Do yourself a big favor. Demo skis before you buy. You will be surprised at how many fine skis don't feel good on your feet, and how great a certain ski will feel. We can discuss skis at length, but only you will know which skis feel right to you.

Last year I really wanted to buy a pair of Salomon X-Scream Series skis. I tried them and about six others. The Salomons were fine skis, but not for me! I bought Volant Machete MCg, and I think they were designed just for me. (Thank you, Volant.)

Demo. You'll thank yourself.

Hello. I have recentley purchased Volkls'
G20 20s. They have amazing grip on windswept
icey Eastern slopes. They recquire work, but
hold an edge like no other ski I have owned.
(My last skiis were Rossignols.)
