There was an inbound avalanche at Squaw Valley today. From what I heard, a part of the snowpack above the Fingers (KT22 lift area) slid, hit one of the chairs and carried one person over the Fingers where it also hit another person in the bowl under the cliffs. No one was buried, the person who took a tumble has a shoulder injury, the other person has minor injuries. Squaw immediately closed the lift and did a pretty extensive search of the area. Looks like everyone has been accounted for.
I was told that the avalanche was triggered by some snowboarders and the crown was pretty good size, about 3 feet. I must say, it is pretty surprising to see a major slide in this area, it is bombed pretty religiously.
Stay safe, and consider wearing a beacon on a powder day.
