I used to feel a vibration along my leg with the plate. I'm not sure if it was because I had a partiularily long plate, but it wasn't fun.
I could feel the screws beneath my skin (which is apparently normal); however, the screw also started backing out and then that was just too much whenever I walked I generally wear hightops now for more ankle stability since everyone loses some proprioception with ankle surgery.
Now, this is an xray of my "healed" ankle--several years after having the hardware out. This is why I don't recommend having your hardware out too early. Obviously, I am not a doctor so this isn't medical advice. Just know that I'm headed for more arthritis in the future (and I'm 45 now). The doctor even recommended fixing this down the road if it bothers me and the eventual need for an ankle replacement.
I don't mean to scare you, just caution you.
