Soft vs Stiff -- Maestrale vs Maestrale RS

I'm relatively new to the AT world.  Used to teleski...but now can't keep up with my AT buddies. :)   So I switched to an AT setup: K2 Coombacks (102 waist) and trying to decide on boots.  I used the Garmont Radiums last year, but the fit wasn't good.  I just tried on the Scarpa Maestrale's and the fit was great.

So, now I need to decide between soft (Maestrale) and stiff (Maestrale RS).  (RS is 20 "points" stiffer, 2 oz heavier and apparently the same range of motion.)

In alpine, I ski the Volkl Mantras or a pair of Rossi GS rippers, with the Dalbello Krypton Pro boot.  I'm 6-0, 175# and an aggressive skier.   The AT setup will be purely bc with maybe 5% front side on big powder days or with some hiking involved. ...So, soft snow only on a rather soft pair of skis.

The Maestrale's have many great reviews, and it seems like I've been hearing a lot of people going considerably softer in AT gear.  ...But, man, that maestrale is soft compared to my Dalbello's.

What are your thoughts?  Can you give me any guidance?  Any downside to getting the stiffer boot?

Thanks

If it helps, i've changed 2 pairs of RS for standard maestrale already this winter, people saying they are too stiff! Personally I think that's great.

Interesting.  At my store we've gone just the other way and nearly everyone that tries both boots walks away with the RS.  So perhaps the difference amounts to different terrain and snow conditions.
