Help! In Search of Retro Hexcel Skis!

Thread Starter

Hi!

I am in search of a pair of Hexcel Hexcelerators. They were my dad's favorite skis and - true story - they literally burned in a house fire. My dad recently bought a vacation home in Park City, UT and I was hoping to surprise him with a pair of these skis to mount in the basement rec room.

Any advice on where to find these skis would be GREATLY appreciated; I've scoured the internet to find nothing! I would also be eternally grateful to anyone on this site who has a pair of Hexcelerators and would be willing to make them available for purchase.

Thanks!

:)

I'm in Utah,  I'll keep my eyes peeled at the local thrift shops.  hexels show up from time to time.  but they will have to be skied at least oncewink.gif  good luck.

I thought they looked too cool for school when I first saw them.  I seem to recall they were quite spendy.  Anyway, by the time I was old enough and serious enough about skiing I was more in to dedicated bump and dedicated racing skis.  The Hexelerator really would look sweet on the wall in a ski house for sure though!

Good Day,

I saw your email via this webiste and wondering if you are still interested in a pair of Hexcel skis.  Although not the exact type but they are honeycomb (intrex series) 195 or 205cm. with look bindings & poles.  I used them when stationed in CA only a couple of times.  They are in excellent condition.  If interested, email me:  jarmoc1@cox.net and we can negociate a price.

My father in law has a pair of hexcel's hanging in the garage, not sure on model or length. Next time I'm there I'll snap a picture.

Can't help you find the Hexcelerators, but your thread brings back fond memories - my Hexcelerators were the skis that I bought with the $$ from my first summer job.  Good luck!

I have a pair of Hexcelerators that I am still using. They are 190s. I have owned them since new from the 70s. I hate to see them on a wall when they still work attached to my feet!

interesting...what is the rest of your set up? Bindings? Boots? Where and how many days do you get in a season?

Soloman 727 bindings, Nordica boots. I am a ski instructor at AngelFire resort. I don't teach with these skis, but I use them at least 3 times a week. All we need is some more snow. It has been a dry season. Thanks for your interest. Keep in touch!

I delivered a pair of hexcelerators to the OP last fall.  I believe they have a place of honor in his Park City condo now.
