Heavenly and kirkwood conditions question

Anyone know -- do they have a small % of Terrain open because the base/coverage sucks or because of business reasons - ie doesn't make sense to operate more terrain this early?

They got smacked last weekend but it didn't open that much terrain

I got an email from a friend yesterday.  Heavenly got hit by rain at the lower elevations, but the upper mountain is open. AFAIK, Kirkwood is 100% open as of today.

A few days ago, Kirkwood's Coop Cooper announced they're 100% open.

Kirkwood's website says 100% as of this weekend (this was last night).

Skiing at Heavenly was superb last week with 7 ft. of new snow over a week period.  The views of the lake are so incredible and the slopes are groomed so nicely for an intermediate skier.  I loved to be able to park our car when we arrived for the week at a condo.  We took the free shuttle to the slopes and to downtown.  What a fabulous week.

would you mind saying which shuttle you took and how you found the condo?

'Oz', there's the airport shuttle from Reno Tahoe Int Airport to the Casino/Gondola area of Heavenly where there's taxis. There's heaps of apartments with kitchenettes like Americana, Stardust, The Lodge at lake Tahoe (those 3 have bus stops out the front door). Or B/w the Gondola and Montbleu Casino there's a "Blu-go' shuttle service that runs loops - it'd easy to get around. You can try vrbo.com for rentals by owners. Aussies like the apartments next to Stagecoach Lift Nevada: the slope is over the road. Avis.co.uk has one-way rentals, eg fly from LAX Los Angeles to Reno on southwest.com, pick up a car through a brit-based site like avis, dollar or thrifty, and return the car to Los Angeles and have a drive around: Hwy 395 is popular, so is the "Great Ocean Road" equivelant on the Pacific shoreline.

And there are shuttles from Heavenly's town to Kirkwood. There's the ski-Homewood-dinner cruise too. Hit up Genoa too.

Sorry but what is Genoa?
