A Shift In The Weather--Colorado Snow!

Are we seeing a shift in the weather pattern, finally? Colorado's natural snow pack has been well under 50% of "normal" so far this early season (although the skiing has been quite good on the excellent man-made snow at many resorts, especially in the high-elevation resorts of Summit County). It looks like we may be in for a change for Christmas, though.

It is snowing now, and the forecast shows a decent chance for snow in most of the next 10 days, at least. Here's the word from The Weather Channel:

It hasn't looked anything like this for a long time!

Is Bob Barnes actually celebrating the fact that conditions look like they are changing from "good for you" to "good"?

Alas, yes, Kevin. Conditions have actually been "good-for-you-with-the-occasional-little-rock-that-is-bad-for-you," and I'm hoping that, at least, the rocks will go away. I don't know how much longer my skis can take that kind of good-for-you!

Don't get me wrong--I've really enjoyed the early-season high-feedback hard stuff--it is one of my favorite conditions. But a little powder would be pretty OK too....

Best regards,
Bob

I'll believe it when the snow falls... some new ungroomed terrain and bumps would be nice.

Bob yes! The nudge I needed to set the bike aside and put some wax on the skis today. Thank you our Al Roker of ski forecasting hope and prayer.

No indication of any possibility of a chance that maybe some snow might make it down to SW Colorado...  frown.gif

Well ... it looks like you can get from the top of three higher lifts (Super Bee, Excelerator, and Timberline) to the bottom, using at least one different way down for all, usually multiple. Or from Excelerator, you can go down Ptarmigan to the top of Eagle, then there are several ways from there to the bottom. Does that make sense? You might have to repeat part of the run, but not all of it. There are also greens off of Flyer and High Point, which don't go quite to the top, but are pretty long (esp. Flyer -- it goes as high as Timberline, basically).

Don't worry, guys, it's just another big sheet of ice. Nothing to see here, move on, now, just go about your business.
