Unban BushwackerinPA

Thread Starter

For real, he is among the most entertaining, knowledgeable, and passionate members on this forum.  I read the site long before I got the bright idea to join, and his posts always kept things interesting.

Now, whether you unban the actual BW username, or instead the JM username, associated with his Facebook account, that is up to you.  So what if he started a thread about a SKI magazine instructor and his 2-minute glade-skiing tutorial?  That is hardly the worst stuff that goes on here unmoderated.

I would say that if you don't unban him, it proves that this site is hellaciously age-discriminating.  While this has become a refuge for 50+ers, the membership needs a rejuvenation with younger folks.

That is all.

(Before a meathead accuses me of being BW, consider that the sentence structure and vocabulary used above are not characteristic of the poster in question)

This sounds interesting.  I think it would be better if you started a polling thread instead of just an open discussion thread about this topic.

I thought his posts were generally good and spiced up the forums, especially the controversial ones, but he was famous for really rubbing some people the wrong way. I think most people didn't mind him, but some really didn't like him at all (hence Rossi's extreme distaste in even bringing up this topic).  Eventually that list grew to include some users with the power to ban him, and that is exactly what happened.  Therefore, you are likely to get most of the people who didn't like him to reply here, because they are not afraid to tell you so.  However, if you make a polling question off the title of this thread, then those who don't mind anonymously defending him will have a chance to do so.

No, it simply proves that is your opinion, not fact.  I'm nowhere near 50+ and I find this site a refuge.

If you want "younger folks" and all that comes with it, visit TGR or NS, I'm sure there's plenty of that to be found on those sites.

If by "rejuvenation" you mean constantly listening to someone bragging about going Mach Schnell at Stowe in glades through trees that are 2' apart on skis that are way over his head and that anyone who can't do that is essentially a loser and not worth his time, while continually stating his opinion as fact, berating and belittling anyone who doesn't share his holy opinion and viewpoint of the world, and letting his "passion" suck all the fun, camaraderie, education, intelligent discourse, and personality out of just about every other member that managed to cross his "entertaining" threads, then by all means go ahead and let BWPA/JM back in.

Hey, ya gain one member back and lose a multitude in return.......sounds like an absolutely fair tradeoff in the spirit of keeping things "interesting", don't ya think?

Please, do start a poll, I would find that extremely entertaining and interesting.  But be careful what you wish for; the results may be very sobering.

Josh was not banned because he rubbed the powers that be the wrong way or because we are a bunch of uptight seniors. Josh was banned because he violated the terms of use. Josh violated the terms of use repeatedly. The question I have for you is this, should we leave anyone who violates the rules of the forum free reign on Epic? Should we allow personal attacks and groundless accusation on this site? I was not on staff when Josh was banned so I do not know  the details behind the decision but I did read comments by Josh that were opinions expressed in a very derogatory and personal manner. Do you think this is acceptable behavior? If you do then perhaps you are visiting the wrong ski forum.

I thought the thread title said Urban BushwackerinPA. That would have been a more fun thread.

Love the speculation guys!

Can't he just come back as another username/alias anytime?

I can understand those who want Josh re-instated on the forums, and I can understand the reasons why some don't want him back.  I don't really have a strong opinion either way.

I will, however, guess that those who vehemently oppose his return haven't met him in person.

I think it's a shame, because when stated that way I can't argue with the decision.  However that doesn't change the fact that I miss his stoke and enthusiasm.

LOL - he's probably already done that 5-6 times.

I'd vote to bring back the BWinPA of, say, three years ago.  I found his stirring of the pot entertaining, and he called a spade a spade.

The problem is, near as I can tell, that person doesn't exist anymore.  For whatever reasons, over time, his posts became less helpful, more disturbing, more negative, and more self-serving.  I suspect he has issues and I also suspect that he started to feel such overconfidence that the rules no longer applied to him.

I'm not sure how easy it would be for him to get back to an acceptable attitude.  And if he did, what would we take as proof sufficient to let him back?

Hey guess what guys, it's thread lock time now. Before anything happens that makes us need to lock the thread. I'll just say this, I don't think anybody wants to have Josh back on this site more than me, and he definitely is not yet ready to come back. Not saying it can never happen, just that it is definitely not happening now.
