Orthotics for the junior skier ?

Shopping for new boots for my 12 yr old son The light bulb turned on. Are  othotics practical for a 12 yr old skier?  I have been a long time user of custom orthotics for my boots and love them. How about his feet? He is 5.1 and  a size 7 foot I am 6.1 and size  11 foot  . I'm guessing there is still some growing ahead. Is it not that important in a junior boot ? are the stock footbeds good enough, so save some $$$? Cost is a concern. At this level is a stock stock footbed like Comformable , Downunders...etc? If so, what works best?

Thanks for your help!!!

If your son has foot alignment issues a custom footbed could be a big help but if his feet and fairly neutral a trim to fit could work just fine if the contour closely matches his feet.  The issue is custom footbeds are expensive and he will certainly outgrow them within a season or two at the most.  In general if he is an avid skier or competitive racer and you are spending lots of cash on racing and looking for peak performance then consider a custom footbed if he needs one.  On the other hand if he is skiing for fun and not motivated to improve quickly or not skiing very many days per season, perhaps chose the less expensive option.
