"Ambassadors," please share your stories of ambassing.

I am intrigued by what specific things "Ambassadors" have done to promote EpicSki at their resorts, and if they are actually on the resorts' employee email lists, or if the resorts aren't on board with that?

At the most basic level it requires maintaining the EpicSki Resort page for the area and answering questions about the resort(s).  If an ambassador is also an employee of some sort such as an instructor or patrol that is a plus as they have more connections and inside knowledge.  As far as I know none of the epic ambassadors have any affiliation with marketing or resort management offices for the resorts, but Nolo did try to contact them all to let them know what we are up to.

Though I don't get up there much, I do plug EpicSki where appropriate, chairlift conversations, chatting with folks in the lodge, etc.  I also try to have a couple stickers in my pocket to hand out if anyone shows interest.

My understanding of the Ambassador role does not include any special responsibility to promote EpicSki.  If I mention EpicSki to someone, it's as a member who thinks it's great place to learn ski-related stuff.  I'm not in the ski industry, just a recreational skier.

As an Ambassador, I try to help people understand better why my home resort is worth considering for a visit.  That means keeping up the EpicSki Resort page and offering advice when someone asks a relevant question.  Assuming of course that I see the thread.

True, there is no additional requirement to plug epic as an ambassador.  Do you wear the vest or hat around ski country?biggrin.gif  That said, I plugged Epic before being an ambassador and would continue to do so should anyone that gets to Beech and Appalachian more often than I do offer to take them over for uswink.gif

I am not a resort employee, just someone who skis there 60 - 80 days a season and who likes to take pictures...so I had to do something with them and created the Local's Guide (link below).  At the time this Ambassador thing all started, I was pretty much the only regular contributor to Epic, so it was sort of obvious who the Ambassador was going to be.  I started doing the Ambassador thing for Epic before I went totally NUTS and put together that website.

The resort, to the best of my knowledge, does not know who I am.  There are a few on this forum who know who Sibhusky is, but I keep a VERY LOW profile as far as that around the hill itself.  In fact, aside from my daughter and one other couple, I don't think anyone there knows.  Naturally, I'd love it if they gave me a free season pass or something, but the desire to be a "secret shopper" so to speak has precluded that.

I've been on the resort's email list for years, of course.  And I've skied with a few Bears over the years as well.

Nope, my current hats are for Alta or SkiDiva or Carolina blue. wink.gif

Will be putting the new Epic stickers on something soon.  Not much space left on the helmet.

That about sums it up. We are not ambassadors to promote EpicSki to resort customers. We are ambassadors to serve our community. We promote Epic because we think our community is informative, entertaining and welcoming.
