Lookout Pass

Hi everyone.   Skied Lookout today (thurs) and was ok   BUT

I would not ski Lookout until there is more snow if I didn't have a pair of old "rock skis".  Would not take my good skis up until more snow.   It is impossible to get through to Chair 1 without hitting dirt and/or gravel.  Bottom of Gold, Silver, Copper all showing considerable dirt and gravel.  The upper mt. skied ok but impossible to get through to chair 1 unless you took your skis off.

I had an ok day because really wasn't worried about my skis.   FYI

Thanks for the update. Guessing they lost a bit since Sunday?

Might head up to the opening of 49's new chair tomorrow. Hope they get the 2-4" forecasted tonight.

spknmike - I've heard 49 decided to not open this weekend.  Too much rain, lost snow.  Next weekend's looking better as we start getting snow Sunday all through next week, last I looked.

edit:  Yup, closed today and Saturday, resuming normal operations on Sunday, weather permitting.

Boy have we been spoiled the last few years.  Skiing 8 in of powder opening day at Lookout a week before thanksgiving.   You will be happy to know Goldmember I spent some time this afternoon after my mt. hike looking at your super hero video at BRC.  Fun stuff thanks for the vicarious powder skiing. Just watched the tube weatherr and looks good for mid week coming up.

Hit up lookout yesterday. With the 8 inches overnight the mountain was nicely coverd, and I even got the first faceshot of the year. Some brown patches at the bottom, but not much. Great first day of the season for me.
