Whistler - Rain or Snow? Which is it??

We leave for Whistler this Saturday for one week.  The extended forcasts say "rain" straight through the week while others say "snow".

Could this mean it will rain at the lower levels and snow in the upper levels?  I've never been to Whistler so I'm not sure what the weather patterns are.  The reports are confusing.

over 5,200 vertical so the "rain" report your probably seeing is at the base. There are many days where it can get above freezing during the day as the village is at  2200'  but typically it will be snow before you reach mid station 4500'  and stays like that into May. November to mid December still likely early season for coverage.

I suspect you have been looking at the weather report for the valley. The alpine report is calling for snow. Best to check the Whistler Blackcomb website's weather and snow conditions page. This provides both the alpine and the valley forecasts, as well as the expected freezing level, wind direction and speed, etc.

Rain or snow at Whistler?  The correct answer is.... Yes.

Here's what I use to get a good quality forecast that covers both base and alpine elevations, wind direction and speed, etc.  This website also covers most major ski areas in North America, Europe, and even South America.  If you have Internet access during your trip this week, this would be a great site to check.
