I hope this is a troll attempt or misguided comment.   I'll take your bait regardless.  MMA is the epitome of martial arts disciplines currently in the world.  Most of the fighters are expert or master level in multiple styles.   Silva would smash their faces in for a warm up.

My dad grew up watching boxing, so I grew up watching it too. But Boxing is a fading sport. And MMA is the future. My dad still doesn't like watching MMA because he thinks it's too brutal. But I have to explain to him that it's actually safer than boxing. Boxing is all about what you can do with your fists while standing up. MMA is all about what you can do with your entire body.

If you want to see great punching, watch boxing. If you want to see great fighting, watch MMA. There isn't a single professional boxer, present or past, who would last one round in the Octagon with Anderson Silva or Jon Jones or Junior dos Santos. There's a reason why you don't see too many big bruisers like Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin around MMA anymore. It's because you have to be more than just a slugger to win in the MMA. Chuck Liddell, imo, was the best stand-up fighter of all time. He wasn't a ground guy. But the sport has changed so fast that if you don't know how to handle yourself on the ground, you won't last in the MMA.

And no, I don't think we'll ever see a Silva-Jon Jones fight. In fact, Silva himself says he has no interest in fighting him. And I don't blame him. Jon Jones would wipe the floor with him. jmho. Would be amazing to watch though. Maybe Dana could put together some blockbuster deal for those two. An offer they couldn't refuse. I can't imagine how much money that fight would bring in.

congrats pdiddy. i probably would of stalked him a bit on the slopes from afar just to check his skills on the slopes. not to hijack or anything but just an offshoot ? which mma fighter would you most want to share a lift with? mine... Hendo (Dan not Benson) then Forrest. Rogan would be pretty cool as well.

hmmm,,,,  I wouldn't mind hanging with Dan either I hear he is a pretty nice guy, but I think Faber would be fun to hang with as well and I am betting he would probably either be or become a pretty good skier based on his size and athletic qualities.   But If I had one just one MMA fighter to pick for the day it would be GSP,( obviously with his knee he wouldn't go, but just saying).

that's pretty awesome.  Surprised to see so many fight fans on this site.  and for those who don't like MMA, not really necessary to bash it is it?  Oddly enough, an MMA forum and this forum are the only two forums I frequent.

I'd share a lift with Bas, that would be classic.

lol,  that would be classic, just guard your liver!

Thanks for sharing that's pretty cool.

I think I'd like to ride the lift with Josh "the Dentist" Neer, either of the Diaz brothers, Sakuraba, or the "Axe Murderer".

I believe Neer has his own "brawler" snowboard. http://brawlerboards.com/signature-series-josh-neer/

I'd also rather see Bones Jones vs Sliva over GSP vs Silva.  Silva wins both.

World peace and bacon grease.

You mean me? I'm flattered, but it's spelled Baz.

Would definitely ride a lift and ski with Joe Rogan, who is probably the coolest dude associated with MMA and also an awesome comedian. Or Chael.

Me too, I can still remember watching some Ali fights when I was little.  We also watched the amateur.. USA Versus the World series in the 70s where they traveled and had meets with the USSR, Cuba, etc.  Would have been epic to see Teofelio Stevenson VS ALI but that wasn't possible in those days.  Anyway, they also had some events where top amateur boxers squared off against kick boxers and the regular boxers usually won.  However, it's pretty common knowledge that great wrestling skills trump boxing or just about anything else but weapons and cheap shots in a real fight.

The most recent UFC event netted around 800,000 pay per view purchases, whereas the most recent skiing PPV event netted...

Oh wait, no one pays to watch skiing.

That proves what? That skiers would rather go skiing than watch skiing?

There are also folks that watch NASCAR, go figure...

Puking at mammoth this weekend.  I'm seriously considering a road trip next week to get my fix and look for Silva.

Well, then better make that chair at least a triple, I'd happily ride up with Bas AND Baz!

Here's the other Bas Gov was referring to, Baz: http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=bas+rutten&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8

It is to a lot of people.  MMA is 1000 times more interesting to watch than skiing.

I'd prefer watching skiing any time any day!! (warren miller style)

After being in boxing for over 10 years, I personally have no desire to watch it.... Sometimes, when the big shots are up, I'd watch a fight, but I'd rather be watching someone shredding fresh pow in a good scenery!!!

And,,, if you got a picture of one of the NASCAR guys while skiing, or a famous skier, would you not put it on this site?  After all it was taken at a ski resort so it seems fitting to put on this board.

and then at that point would you be scratching your head wondering why someone was putting it down?    It's a picture,  take a break Rossi you don't have to be rude all the time.

Oh Rossi, I'm going to type this nice and slowly just for you. It proves a few things:

1. It proves that there are a lot of people who do care about MMA, even if you don't.
2. It proves that there are things outside of skiing that interest people, even if you can't understand why. It's a sign of a closed mind when one can't grasp that people would do things that you wouldn't.
3. It proves that once in awhile worlds collide.
4. It proves that you're acting like a d*ckhead for continuing to post on this thread to declare how little interest you have in MMA when everyone else (almost) does have an interest, and you simply could have left the thread after seeing the first post.

I think it's cool!
