Hello from the Not so Tranquil chalet where we have a whole house full of people at the mid-Atlantic gathering. We're still watching skiers go by the window out front And cleaning up after dinner...with beer

Whats the parking situation like at Tranquil?

Definitely jealous as we eat pizza in a hotel in Greensboro, NC where my daughter has a gymnastics meet.  Hate that I can't join this crew but have a great time!

According to the Blue Knob front page GM Doug Houck has resigned. I don't like the sound of that. It seemed like he was helping the resort turn the corner especially on snowmaking and grooming from what I was hearing. What do you guys think will happen next?

Quoted from the BK mainpage:

"We would like to thank Doug Houck for his efforts on making Blue Knob the best ski area in the Mid-Atlantic and we feel he accomplished it with a lot of great ideas, hard work, and long hours. We know the sacrifices he had to make and truly appreciate them.

Doug, thank you for all you've done and best to you in your new endeavors."

That's too bad, but perhaps he has landed a better gig (for him?).  I remember meeting him a couple years ago.  Very likable guy.  I wish him the best too.  I would certainly welcome him at any resort around here, but he'd do well at larger western resorts too.  Gonna post this in the resorts and travel section...

Charles, might be good to post in Skiing News in the Community Forum if you can find anything behind the front story.  I really enjoyed Blue Knob this year for my first time ever.   Fun area with no crowds, interesting terrain and a good vibe.

I got a thread going in Skiing News when I saw it. This one is pulling more comments though haha.

I posted a thread about it in resorts, conditions, and travel about the same time Tyler posted one in Skiing News.  We now have at least three.

so put a poll up where to discuss it tongue.gif ?

Really though good for Doug. He really seemed to enjoy meeting his customers and hearing what they thought. He did a nice job at BK, I'd like to see him stay around the Mid Atlantic.
