Marznc sent some great ideas, I'm going to act on, and maybe feel a bit better about the knees before arrival.

I posted a little suggestion in the pot thread that might help you some..

You're even sniping the top of the page in this thread!

Well Friday at Blue Knob is either going to be my first or second day on the snow in a year so it shouldn't be too much of a problem hanging with the old guys at the beginning. wink.gif

I'm old enough to be your Father and I demand respect!   hopmad.gif

Actually, my youngest daughter is 27 years old.  So you're way too young.  At least there should be some younger people at the Gathering she can relate to...like Dsloan.

I think you may almost be old enough to be my grandfather ;)

I need clarification!  Is Tylr banned from Blue Knob, banned from Epic or banned from pursuit of your daughter?eek.gifbiggrin.gif

I'm sad to say my soon to be 23 year old daughter will not be attending. She committed to a weekend with friends at 7 Springs and couldn't convince them to move it to Blue Knob. My son is not likely to be there either because of a Boy Scout outing, not sure about that yet. My wife should make it up for Saturday. She has only made it out once this winter, healing from a foot operation early and dealing with multiple bouts of illness lately so I know she will be in cruise mode. Cirque, you'll have full time company, at least on Saturday.

Shall I start a thread in the mod lounge about banning me?

Never mind I see I have been banned.

Okay, I'm over it now.

I'm pretty sure Chance will opt for the High Adventure scout outings over skiing with dad and dad's friends.  Daughter will do me like that too with her friends when she gets older.  Look forward to seeing you and Mrs Crazy.

As for the kids..

I probably need to search the sticker threads, but do I recall this being available in a downloadable form so that we could have it printed? Thinking it would look great on my locker at the Springs . . . and any other number of places.

Also, starting the preparation now. We want snow!!!

Come snow! Come snow!

Fall fast, fall slow,

Be it powder or crud,

Let the inches be shown . . .

Speaking of libations, just a heads-up to any non-PA newcomers and a reminder to a pair of Crazy Canucks smile.gif, that you'll need to BYOB and not rely on buying any beer/wine/liquor nearby @ Blue Knob. PA has some of the strangest liquor laws of any state.

Any recent condition reports on Blue Knob? (Gathering only about two weeks away.) Looks like they were making snow this week on Extrovert and Stembogan?

You might ask nolo privately.

MidwestPete should also have files for that graphic.  However for a small sticker you could probably just save the image from the web link above.  For a poster you'd need a larger version of the file.

I was thinking it was MidwestPete who has the files. Thanks, crgildart.

My son and I skied BK last Sunday. They were hit pretty bad by the meltdown but were in the process of recovering the slopes. Only Stem and Upper Ex were closed, no natural terrain was open. Ex had good coverage but deemed to icy. I couldn't get over to Stem but a talk with Doug Houck, BKs GM, revealed that Stem and Ex were next with snow making focused in at least a part of Stem Bowl. All of the most recently made snow was curing but should be groomed out by now. Barring another major melt down all snowmaking trails should be good to go.

Doug recognized me from previous visits and sought me out to say he enjoyed the photos and trip reports posted on EpicSki. (I told him you were our new Ambassador, TC and directed him to your unofficial guide.)  I will e-mail him a link to this thread and be in touch before we arrive. I'm sure he'd like to meet and greet anyone interested in doing so.

Hi Guys,

Just joined Epic Ski. I'm in Northern VA. Will plan to head up to Blue Knob. If there is a waiting list for lodging I want on it...

Cheers.

PM sent Fietser.  Not sure about availability.  Will check and get back to you.  But in any event, you are welcome to join us for turns all or part of the weekend.  We'll post meeting times and places as the date gets closer.  Think snow.

Welcome.       Don't get sucked into the cycling forum.

I sent a PM also.  I don't plan to stay overnight but I'd be interested in carpooling for maybe Saturday or Sunday.

Just got back from skiing in Tahoe, which was "eh"...hardpacked conditions on the groomed slopes and dust on crust off the groomed. Definitely not what I had hoped for this trip.  We were able to get together with mdskier and his wife, and had a fun day at Heavenly.

Mdskier mentioned he will be at BK this weekend so hopefully he can give us an update on conditions.

If we don't have at least a foot of powder, this will be the first gathering I have attended that didn't.  popcorn.gif

I've had good luck at gatherings too.

Pulled in to plenty of fresh at BK for the gathering of 2011

Drove through a blizzard to Timberline then had this added to the car overnight last year.

Yes to this weekend, I'm doing a snow dance to Ullr.

It was nice skiing Heavenly with you and your wife.  We found a couple of decent runs with good snow.

Before Friday conditions were Blue Knob like.

I'm actually going to be at Blue Knob this weekend as well (never been there before) so I can offer a report if Mdskier forgets.
