Yes !!! ski.gif  Extrovert Just opened yesterday for first time this year.

Ex is always sweet before it bumps up; you can really let your skis run.

But, MDS, Ex was "open" several weeks ago, per trip reports. Natty snow only.

Add MDskier to the Tranquil House.  House is now full, yay!

Rental agreement being e-mailed to me, so it looks like this is confirmed as being available.

FYI: I will be driving down early Friday, eta around 10 am.  Leaving around 1pm on Sunday (depending on how good the skiing is).

Conga line...now imagine the whole group skiing a conga line down one of the easy slopes?  That would make for an interesting pic   LOL

mmmm...maybe better stick to the line-up on the top of stembogen...LMAO

I was hoping MikeC might post some photos of yesterday. Condition were very good but Stem was sprouting loose rocks by mid day. Extrovert was very nice at the top, no bumps and very edgable machine made, tame whales though there were some steep face on the downhill side. the last headwall on lower Ex was a bit hard but still negotiable. Deer Run, Expressway, High Hopes, all had nice surface conditions with a few hard or thin spots here and there. Snowmaking went on through the day on Jack Rabbit, which was closed and Upper Mambo as well as around the top of the lifts. All snowmaking terrain should be in great shape this weekend and it looks like the snow today should lay down about 6" or so of fresh. Alas, not enough to open the glades.

Only the really hard core skiers "negotiate" it on their backs, though. ;-)

On their back and head first...that's what made my decision to start wearing a helmet  LOL

Ok, you brought up the subject. The only photo I took yesterday:

I knew it would come up, so I just thought I'd own it. :-D

Hmmm, what were you looking for? Did you find it?

The wishing (tree) well?

LOL, hardly a well hahaha  But, I did post hole my arm trying to get up when some sapplings attacked me in BK BC one afternoon.

Somewhere around here there is a Vimeo video of that doomed BC expedition hahaha..

She almost got a closeup of that tree with her head but managed to slow down enough to not damage anything!  The tree survived as wellbiggrin.gif

Sorry for the delay. Here are the best of the pics I took yesterday with my iPhone.

Overall the mountain was skiing very well and the top of Extrovert was very nice! First time I've ever skied it without huge moguls and tons of ice.

Lower mountain signpost. Only Extrovert and Stembogan were open.

Group about to drop into Upper Extrovert. DSloan, Marcus, LHC's Daughter Jess, and LHC

Two shots of Upper Extrovert from the top and one from the bottom.

What's wrong with this picture?

Customary line-up at the edge of Stembogan bowl.

Sunset shot from the top of the triple chair with the risen moon.

Conditions look great!  Getting out for my first runs of the season this Sunday, only Jack Frost but it will have to do.

So who was on those fluorscent Elans with the Geze bindings and the ski tote??biggrin.gif  Was it retro day?

No one in our group.  We just thought it was quite ironic that the old straight skis were locked up and our newish modern skis were not!

Ding, ding, ding, ding. NJskier wins the boobie prize for spotting that one. We all thought it was a great irony that the only skis locked were  old, straight Elans but locked with a Ski Tote....priceless. That's not a retro day at the Knob, that's everyday.

LOL

If the second group successfully reserves the Tranquil apartment we'll have to reconnoiter it sometime on Friday 2/22.  Maybe for gatherings during the weekend we could alternate back and forth between houses?  I know the "Topper" house on Jack Rabbit has a decent sized living room/dining room/kitchen area.  I think the very reasonably priced "all day" lift tickets offered for sale online via the Blue Knob website (~$30 on Fri and ~$42 on Sat and Sun) include night skiing on Fri and Sat night making visits to either house up to about 9 or 10 pm doable on skis.

Tranquility base is a "go"...   LOL

Isn't that house near the Stembogen house?

I can see it now...stop at the Mountaintop for a drink and food, ski down to the Tranquil house for the same...doing laps until you've had your fill...could get ugly ski.giftongue.gif

Done that too. First time at Blue Knob skiing down Extrovert there was about a six foot sheer drop onto Rt. 66 from snow build up in the middle. I tried to stop and hit ice. Hit the final bump with enough speed it launched me onto Rt. 66 like superman. Strained my rotator cuff in the landing and hit so hard on my face the lens got knocked out of my goggles.

The ice was beginning to thaw so at this point it was slick and wet. I finally came to a stop at the lowest point on Rt. 66 you can enter lower extrovert from almost the highest exit of Upper Extrovert. Complete and total yard sale even lost a pole somehow with straps on.

Tell me about it. I guesstimated that I landed about 15 feet laterally from where I took off. Was my worst wipe out until the following season I tried to ski off a cliff at The Canyons...long story short I didn't land right and ended up hitting two trees. Fun times...fun times.

She found it on her next run down Extrovert.

I'm doubting that maybe for 2 hours!  Prolly just dust on rocks that scraped off fast.  All the glades (almost never open)

except Ditch were also "open"?   Yeah   Barring monsoon rains Extrovert should now stay "snow" covered.

Unfortunately that's what it sounds like is coming this week...mad.gif
