What?  Are you sleeping the day away?  I'm hungry.  Need a little slice of anything I want.

Great Thanksgiving thread.

Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.  And Happy Birthday to our fearless leader, Cirquerider.

My sons' US-based French school explains Thanksgiving to newcomers by calling it "Le Noël Americain." This is the quintessential American gathering in that it does not distinguish among religions, brings families together, and encourages us to be grateful for what we have before the buying frenzy that starts on the morrow.

Aw, you remembered!

Here's hoping for a safe happy Thanksgiving to all and a great Black Friday ski sale to the minions. May you be with family and friends...unless it is a powder day where you live.cool.gif

Sort of like carb loading before a race biggrin.gif

It does seem a little odd that we spend a few days getting ready for, and then a day expressing our thanks for all we have, just to turn around and go get more things to have.

Thanks to Dr. D I'm done with my black Friday shopping and can focus on giving thanks.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Visiting family in upstate NY, I'm thankful to see a snow covered ground for the first time since spring. biggrin.gif

No need to visit family this year...they live among us.  Wishing you all the best Thanksgiving ever and happy White Friday.

I hope it's okay to wish everyone happy Thanksgiving in a zombie thread. :dunno

Took this picture this morning; I'm betting they are grateful they live in a country that not only doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving, but where turkey's are more often pets than food.

I went to the grocery store this morning, just to pick up a old school newspaper so mom could have the Black Friday circulars.  Got there at 10 am getting the LAST newspaper on the rack.  Got in the LOOOOOOOOOng line and the 20 something year old man in front of me offered to let me skip him since he had about 8 items and I only had one.  I declined thanking him and telling him I wasn't in a hurry at all.

So, we work up the line and when he's checking out with his small turkey, 4 potatoes, a large can of corn, a one liter bottle of Pepsi, and a few other misc items like spices and stuff he gets his total and pulls out a twenty dollar bill.  The total was $20.77 so he asked the cashier to take one of the misc spices off.  Of course I asked the cashier to include that item with my newspaper and handed it to him:)  I'm thankful that God puts us in position to make a difference and that we get the hint to do the right thing sometimes when in that position.  Also thankful to get the LAST paper hahahaha.

Have a great day everyone.  Dinner's ready and it is only 1pm here :drool

Not only is it Thanksgiving, but I turned 60 yesterday, which lead me to survey things in my life.  Boy, do I have a lot to be thankful for!  If I had lived in my parents' time I would have been dead for about 20 years by now but modern medicine cured me and later made me better than new.  I have family around me, wonderful friends, enough to eat, a nice place to live, music in my life, and great skiing just up the road!  I'm a happy, and thankful man.

Welcome to 60.  I beat you by less than a week.  Things could be worse, but I'm watching the Steeler struggle against the Ravens..right now I'm hoping for a happy ending, whichever way the game goes   :D

Happy Turkey day everyone.  Lots to be thankful for.  And, Inland PNW ski areas are opened already or are opening Fri or Sat.  Snow will be early season but we are off and skiing.
