-I like the straightforward and clean interface. There's no extraneous stuff, little visual clutter to confuse the user, easy to understand. Nice graphics, easy to read, big font on the main display, buttons/tabs are big enough. Well done.
-There aren't advanced graphing features or trail map tie-ins, but for anyone who wants a somewhat simple but effective tracking app this could be a strong contender I think. Since I got it free for today, I can't comment on the value of it because I'm not sure how much it normally sells for? Ski Tracks (a top contender, in my opinion) sells for $2.99 I think, so if yours sells for $0.99 then I think it's certainly worth the price. If it's $1.99 I'd say that's the limit. Beyond that and you're competing against a few other apps that have much more advanced features that are integrated. Just my opinion, though.
it's generally 1.99, though I'll probably play with this a little bit going between .99 and 2.99. I have found that most of the time I sell more at the lower price, but not enough more (i.e. double) to make up for it. 1.99 is the likely pricing.
-When reviewing stats and map, and zoomed into my location......when I go back to the Home tab, then back to Map, the entire world is shown and zoomed out again. Is there any way to "save" (or at least reload/remember) my last viewing point, rather than having to zoom in all over again? To be honest, it'll be a pain to zoom in, out, back in again, over and over everytime I switch the tabs. Can that be improved/changed?
It shouldn't be showing the whole world, it generally does a "zoom to fit" of route that was saved. How long was the route you did?
-Facebook linking/posting is all fine and dandy but those of us who aren't so narcissistic, can you add the ability to just export a map through your Google Earth base as a .kmz file? That way we could export and email for our own records, comparison, bragging rights, whatever.
As a note, you can turn off the popup for facebook in the settings. As for the export that is something I've considered. It really depends on how well the app does as to whether I would put in the time for something like that. It's definitely on my list of possibilities though.
-Can you add the ability to export the displayed stats as a .csv file, again to email and use in a spreadsheet to track our runs, etc? Same deal here as .kmz map file.
same as above
Hope that helps for feedback. It's a great start, I like the look and ease of use. A few export features would be excellent value added for it, and see about fixing that map zoom tweak, but other than that I think you've done a great job!
OH, almost forgot one question: does the Vert Drop stat calculate drop for current run ONLY, or for total accumulated runs (ie-turn on the app, let it run 3 hours, and it calculates all my runs and vertical drop)??
sadly no. I've found that the altitude accuracy on gps (at least non-military level gps) isn't good enough to do accumulations on (I've spent a lot of time on this). In general it the altitudes are pretty close, but the combined error when summing every second ends up huge. On the other hand, if you just take one run and get the max and min altitude, it's really a pretty reasonable result. If you want the combined vert, you will sadly have to record a new track each run. Everything else will obviously be fine, speed, distance, time, etc.
And lastly........I like this one better than Ripxx Looks like you're a sci/math guy....GPS Determination paper, eh? LOL. Nice. Good to see you got the visual interface done right, nice to see tech geeks who can do design as well (I mean that as a compliment, honestly).
Yeah it's actually not as good as some of my other apps with a different designer (IMO) but it is much better than my first design. I figured out a long time ago that I need to pay someone else to do the graphics after I design and code the app :-) Ripxx was quite a long time ago before I went on my own full time, and I don't think they even still have it available.
