I get your skepticism, Adie.
I sort of share it given that I've skied a number of Kastle models and have never felt the enlightenment that many here do. I liked the skis a great deal and would be perfectly happy skiing on them, but I wasn't blown away to the point that I would abandon all others. I didn't even prefer them to what I ski now (Rossignol) and what I skied before (Head), but I'm not entirely objective.
To be honest, I wasn't entirely blown away by the MX78 that I owned. The groomed snow performance was fantastic, but no better than my Supershape Magnums. Probably a better comparison would be the SS Titan, but I don't have enough experience with that ski to make a fair judgement. Off piste and in bumps I found them to be only so-so, but bumps are not my strong point. They felt like they skied shorter than the 176 length.
