Green Slopes at Vail/Beaver Creek?

Hi Everyone,

I'm taking my son to Vail and Beaver Creek to ski.  He loves open green slopes and a few gentle blues for wide-open carving.  Does anyone have any recommendations on the specific areas, slopes, lifts at Vail and/or Beaver Creek?  Thanks for your help?

The upper part of Beaver Creek, served by the Cinch Express lift has excellent green runs.  To get to them ride the Centennial Express lift first.  There is a restaurant at the top of it.  You can ride the Centennial lift down if you don't want to take the cat tracks down.  I have seen children's classes doing it.  Other than that, BC and Vail have only jeep roads/cat tracks labeled green.

Agree with crud man. Vail doesn't have a lot of green terrain except for cat tracks and a few things. It has a lot of intermediate terrain, but is not a good beginner mountain unless you stay near the bottom at Golden Peak.

Yeah, it's a real shame, because both Vail and BC promote their resorts as family and kid friendly with good easy slopes to learn to ski on.  Sometimes, beginners need slopes to test what they learned from their early lessons...even something between green and blue, but definitely open green runs on which to develop confidence.

I've said it in a previous thread of yours OP, but you're really overanalyzing this trip.

Both Vail and BC have plenty of wide open groomers with moderate pitch. Your family will have a great time.

If you want to scare the shit out of your kid, take him to Taos or Crested Butte, but he'll be fine at Vail and BC.

Yep, you're absolutely right (about over-thinking, that is).  I guess I'm just another fanatic skier (or former one) who still loves to obsess about skiing....ski gear, ski technique, ski resorts, ski slopes....etc!  Thanks for your good comments.
