97mm my grits...

I just measured the "toebox" width of a "97mm" boot in a 26.5, and it is actually 112mm (and this is taking into account, generously, the thickness of the plastic).

Does this account for the liner as well?  I've never been sure what/how the standard measurement is...

Nope, my measurement is strictly focusing on the shell.

please send me, at no charge, 1 pound of whatever it is that you are smoking??????!!!!!!!!!..............

is it our responsibility to endure your lack of boot knowledge. are you just throwing some smelly fish up against the wall to see if any of them stick. so far there is just a pile of smelly fish on the floor. 112mm bahh haaa haaa haaa!!!!!!

great detective work, you have uncovered the great lange forefoot width conspiracy. those slimy bastards thought that we would never find out. now on to bigger and better things like how kitchen aid is building toasters with over sized wire cords. oh the shame and misery.

Here's a few informative points to ponder....................

  • The width of the boot is not measured at the "toebox" (there is no published measurement for that)
  • The width rating is actually measured on a diagonal at the met heads which is the widest point on the boot.
  • Hint.......the toebox is not the widest part of the boot.
  • The plastic thickness on this Lange model is about 4-5 mm thick in that area.
  • The width rating is stated for a sz 26. and the internal measurement goes up about 2mm/size.
  • My own Langes (sz 27) measure 110 at the outside of the shell @ the met heads.
  • So you figure.....110 - 10mm for the shell, - 2mm for the size, close enough to 97 for gubmint work.
  • Of course the "toebox" is far forward of the met heads and much smaller.

So.......I guess the 26's run large?????

SJ,

Always like your comments biggrin.gif

Found this earlier this year on line which is inline with what you are saying, while not current does correspond to my boots (which happened to be '08s WC130 WC fit)

I thought the width was the measurement of the mold (last?) that is inside the boot.  So a 26 would be 98 (or whatever) mm based on the size of the mold and not what the boot is; internal or external.

The published widths are the diagonal measurement across the met heads on the inside. The measurement is taken from the inner part (plug) of the mold and is (at least theoretically) the same as the internal measurement. The external measurements are not published and don't tell you much anyway.
