To me, the constant bashing of Ski Magazine reeks of being the new "wannabe core" thing to say. I'm such a good skier that it's simply beneath me and only for gapers, right?
Do they over-emphasize the resort and culinary stuff? Sure, probably. But there appears to be a consensus that it's only for casual skiers and tourons, yet much of the info they provide mirrors many of the threads and questions I see on this forum.
When I'm going somewhere new, I already know where most of the good terrain is located, and beyond that you need to ask or follow a local to find those secret stashes anyway. Typically what I do want to know is where's the best place to grab a beer afterwards or a bite to eat, or maybe where it's most convenient to stay in the area.
Do I prefer reading Powder? Of course. But both mags definitely have their place and purpose. Enough already.
