Went to my local ski shop yesterday where I tried on several pairs off boots. The boot I liked the fit of the best was a Full Tilt classic.
He sized me and put me in a 28.5 shell (318mm). Told me this was the size for me. When standing upright I was faintly aware of the front. In ski position it was gone. Thought it might be to rec of a fit for me.
So i asked to try a shell down 27.5 (310mm). When standing upright my toes (Big and second one) curl a little. In ski position they are firmly into the front of the boot but no curl. I told the sales person this. He then proceeded to shell fit me. Stuck a fit stick of some size (an oblong dowel) behind my heel and said yeah that could work too....
I guess after the ordeal I am unsure of which size to go to. I do not like slop in my boots once they pack out but curling toes would be just as bad I assume. The reason for this dilemma is I want them to special order the Seth Morrison boot (same shell denser liner). However special orders from them are yours to keep love it or hate it. Is anyone familiar with how the new pro liner packs out? Does it sound like I would be okay one they are broken in?
This boot will be a second boot used for off trail only mated to last years Line Mr Pollard's Opus. My other boots for comparison are Salomon quest 14 and ghosts both a 27.5 shell (317mm and 315mm respectfully).
Thanks for the help! sorry for the half rant.
