Way to go Raikkonen!

Maiden win in Malaysia. The first of many, I'm sure.
And did you see Alonso?
1st pole for him, and a very creditable 3rd.

Renault are back.

Geez, thanks you two. I taped the race last night and I was just in the middle of watching it when someone called and asked me to email them something. Well, now I'm sittin' in front of the other idiot-box and I have to see if there are any new, thought provoking posts and uggh . . . . there it is. Kimi's first win. And Alonso third. Congratulations to both.

Alas, I have no one to blame but myself. Am I going to finish watching the race now? Of course, it's F1! Besides, second place and the other points-paying positions are still "up for grabs."

PS. Nice move on the first lap Michael.

There wasn't a lot of joy as the WI Alfa Owners Gathered at the Blue Moon last night but at least the new batch of F-1 Bloody Mary mix was prettty good.
Wait til next time

"Renault are back."

West McLaren MBZ looking pretty good, too.

True, but I don't drive a McLaren. I do drive a Renault. (and I think the last time they were doing well was powering the Williams cars of the 80s in the days of Nigel Mansell)

First car I recall being in was a late-50's model Renault my mom owned. If I've seen one since, I don't remember.
(Hey, who was that guy who punted off Trulli?)

Inspector - That bold text was aimed at me wasn't it?
Its sooo easy to do.
I've just been on a weeks skiing holiday, and set the VCR up for the race.
When I got back to Blighty, I decided to check the weeks football results on my WAP phone, and the first thing I see on the sports page is the race result :
Ah well, I still watched it.

Fox - Williams didn't get Renault engines untill 1989. It was Honda and Ford in the until then.
My mistake. But they could have my engine... it's due it's first service in a few weeks (18k), and I've noticed that it takes longer to start than it used to. I get in, I hit the button, and I have to wait a couple of seconds now, but hey, I've got all the toys to play with while the engine fires up...

Cool, sounds like my neices Fisher Price Renault..
Thats got lots of toys as well.

Renault success in F1 is not that far back - if i remember right, the elder Schumi won his first couple of WC's with Renault powered Benettons. Remember the commercials Schumi did for Renault?

And now it looks like Briatore and Renault found a new born speedian sun in Alonso
post #12 of 16
Benneton and MS won the drivers title in 94 with Ford and then the Drivers and Constructors titles in 95 with Renault.
Renaults last success was with Williams and Villeneuve in 97, after which they pulled out of the sport.
Although they continued suppling engines for a couple of years badged as Supertec (I think)

Actually, no, the bold was not aimed at you, but you did make me laugh.

Forza Ferrari? Yes, but I prefer Rubens to Michael. There's not much room to dispute Michael's talent, but he's a little too smug for me.

Seeing manufacturers, other than Ferrari, further up the grid and new names in the points made for a wonderful race. I, for one, hope this is a sign of more balanced competition in F1. I would love to see more teams and drivers as serious contenders for a win on any given weekend.

Go Verstappen! Forza Minardi :

Well I probably disagree with all of you. There going to dumb this thing down with rules to the point where it won't mean much. This is F1 fastest car, best technology, best driver, should win. If you want to see all the cars the same with the driver being different watch Formula Ford.
okay so why didn't we hear everyone gripe when williams then McLaren was winning all the races with mika while schumacher was driving the wheels off the inferior at the time ferrari, remember when michael left Benneton the ferrari camp was not doing anything special as thier equipment was behind Mclaren & williams, now at the time michael did say when asked about driving for williams that the best driver -MS in the best car-williams would be no challenge, Michael did help bring ferrari back to glory.
Have you been watching? They were losing viewership big-time. Many were tired of seeing Ferrari win consistently.
