Hi Everyone,
Can people weigh in on the similarities and/or differences between the Blizzard Magnum 81 (168 cm) vs the Rossi Experience 83? I ski almost entirely frontside in the East. I'm 5' 9", 190 lbs with skill level 7. Thanks!

Well, since I've got both I'll start it off.

The E83 skis short for it's size with a bit of early rise at both ends. Playful ski, nice for a New England frontside general purpose use.

The 8.1 Mag is beefier. Better for a faster or more agressive skier.

Either way you can't loose, I enjoy them both.

168cm would seem short for you, I'd go up one size.

So, at 190 lbs. which one will be a little easier to manage at medium speed?

I'd say the E83 in a 176cm would be more user friendly and playful.

But, isn't the longer length going to require more work for turn initiation?

I got to spend a few runs on the E83 in the 170 size towards the end of last season and I really enjoyed them. Very easy to ski and they held a good edge on a harder day despite being an demo ski that had not been maintained very well.  You wont regret buying that ski.

Edit: The rocker in the tip makes the ski feel a little shorter than it really is. I was unaware of rocker in the tail, but that will also contribute to a shorter feeling ski.  At 190 you wont have any problem with that size.

These things ski short because of 30% rocker and 70% normal camber (Auto Turn Rocker). You will not have trouble turning these skis if your technique is "modern", i.e. not skidding all your turns. They recommend the 176cm starting @ 170 pounds.
