Plugboots and SJ touched on it and you caught up quickly.
Quoting SJ: Not making the suggestion about bootfitting is irresponsible............pushing the subject to the extremes is dumb. After all, you can lead them to the water but........
When I looked back at my first EVER post, these thoughts come to mind:
- Oh My
- I have come a long way, Baby!
- Thank goodness the Bears were patient with me and allowed me to grow at a pace I was comfy with.
- If I'd been pushed like some of our new posters have been recently, I may not be where I am today and that would be a very sad thing.
Well, I don't read all the posts and many times don't respond to the "which ski" posts because I haven't skied that many. Could you here or through PM point me in the direction of threads with the pushing. If it was me being over zealous I would like to apologize to the person as that wasn't my intent. I've been posting in this thread and not even fully understanding what the issue is.
I posted the one you mentioned above and then saw SJ posted. It was odd because we tend to have different views on things and this time I felt the same way as he does; it is irresponsible. I would no sooner not mention to a struggling beginner student that going to the summit might not be the best thing for them when they stated they wanted to go there. Or tell my son he doesn't need rims but does need tires.
Color me old fashion or possibly pushy, but there is a difference between not saying something to someone that doesn't know any better because they didn't ask the right question and someone that won't listen. I get the latter. Make an attempt but you can't make them drink like SJ said.
Interesting thread indeed TC.
