In the November Ski Magazine they list the following resorts:
Powder Mt Ut
Mt Rose Nev
Grand Targhee Wy
Their criteria: "large enough to offer true variety and a diverse skiing experience, intimate enough to retain a hometown ambiance and cultivate a true sense of community." Whatever any of that means. I'm not sure Stevens has a hometown ambiance. We're all from Seattle, we don't all know each other. But I digress.....
I've been to four: Schweitzer (went last year and will go again this year because it was so awesome), Stevens Pass (my home area), Mt Rose and Kirkwood (went at last year's Gathering). I'll be skiing at Powder Mt over Xmas, Targhee is on my to-do list, as is Fernie.
I think that most of the people on Epic have in fact heard of most or all these resorts, if not actually skied there. I guess they figure the majority of their subscribers don't know about any resorts other than the major destination resorts.
Still, it is nice to see them feature some areas that usually don't get much attention in the major publications.
