Ski recomendations for a fat man

Thread Starter

6'1" and about 275 lbs and an intermediate level skier; looking for any suggestions for skis that would be good with the extra weight. Mostly ski the groomed runs w/ an ungroomed black here and there. Located in the mid west so I have to deal with the crap conditions here most of the time but try to get out west once a year for a few days. Any thoughts on specific skis or just features I should look for (or look to avoid)?

I'm 5'10" and around 260 - 270, and I've found they don't make a "good" one.

Right now I'm on a 182 Rossignol Bandit B2, and it's OK. You will just need a wider all mountain ski because you are going to sink it more, and the stiffer the better because you don't need to work as hard to load it up because you can bend it just fine using body weight alone... I follow people touching their butt to the ground just by leaning side to side a little.

Makes sense. I was looking at skis mostly around 77 in widh, I wonder if that is enough. I was looking at the Atomic Smoke, but thinking I may need to go to the Smoke TI it order to get the stiffer ski. Anyone have any thoughts or can suggest something that might be a similar ski that is a better fit for me. Thanks.

Hi

I've skied the Blackeye Ti, was good, a bit demanding ski.

Also the Dynastar Outland 80 Pro, which is the stiffest (except for the 87). A bit lighter

I think you would need something with binding up to 12, but I think the smoke comes with that
