How do use my shorter skins on my longer skis

This is my situation.

I have skins that are fitted to 162 cm Voile Drifters that are 110mm underfoot. I just bought some new Megawatts that are 178 cm and 125mm underfoot. I would like to be able to use my old skins on my new skis. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for making the tail a bit longer so that I can use these bad boys on my new skis? Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

What tip/tail attachment system do you have on the old skis?

They are black diamond sts with a loop on the front and a semi stretch tail with a metal clip

Is the tip folded over the metal loop or stiched? I guess you've maxed out the extension on the tail?

Ya I maxed out the extension and the loop at the tip is attached with some plastic to hold the ends of the loop and then the skin is screwed to that plastic piece

cut a long rubber strip out of an inner tube, and bolt it to the end attachement. Make sure you cut the bolts down as low as possible and use the rounded wood bolts on the side of the snow. then attach the metal clip on the end of the inner tube strip...

Never tried it, but that would be what I'd do...even though it sound wacky

Rat tail.

A bigger issue may be the width with so much base exposed at the edge.  Since you already have the skins, have a go but give them a trial before venturing too deep into the BC.
