Want something that holds up on hardpack/speed but is fun in the pow

Thread Starter

I am skiing on a 160 now. Advanced, 5’5’’ 155.

I want something that holds up on the hardpack/speed decently but is fun in the powder  it’s going to be my “out west ski” – and I tend to go for a few weeks to different locales and face variable conditions. I have plenty of all mountain carvers for east coast skiing. Hated everything I demo’dlast year due to the intense chatter and general lack of stability in anything but powder – the runoffs following the powder runs were almost scary to me due to lack of stability (K2 missbehaveds felt like driving a ford focus on the autobahn when I found myself on hardpack, shaking steering wheel and all).  Still want  to float on the pow/cut through crud however. The women’s skis with a wood core (even the ones for ‘advanced’) are generally NO fun for me – too soft. I tend to like a man’s/unisex ski due to construction/stiffness.  Happy to do women’s or mens if you have suggestions that fits this description.

Suggestions? Looking at DPS Yvette 112 in a 168, the Armada TST but saw some talk of chatter, liked the look of some of the atomics but don't know which.

I also Don’t want to overface myself either due to a repaired knee.

thanks

Blizzard Dakota should be on your must try list.
