Probably be busy at Cat today. Season pass holders are going for Picture Day. Have 3 slopes open, unloading from mid-station, $30 lift tickets ($39 normally). Don't know if ski school is open but probably have something going on. The base is 8-18 inches, which sounds like plenty given that folks often end up skiing on 10 inches during early (Dec) and late season (after mid-Feb to mid-March).
Sugar set their prices to $40/$30 Adult/Child for full day for the weekend. Normal prices are $54/$34. Have 7-30 inches on the ground and not running any snow guns while people are on the slopes. I assume ski school is open since it was open on Halloween, at least for private lessons.
For those unfamiliar with skiing in NC, when fully open Cat has 25 acres, 740' vertical, longest run 1.4 mile, avg annual snowfall 40"; Sugar has 115 acres, 1200' vertical, longest run 1.5 mile. avg annual snowfall 78". 100% snowmaking coverage is necessary for a ski area to stay in business. During early season, the snow guns are often blowing during the day on open slopes.
