Thanks in advance for any advice you can provide.
Son is HS racer in Michigan (shorter courses, manmade snow, hardpack to almost manamade icepack not eastcoast ice but the rough stuff under the manadamde layer that gets pushed aside in the turns).
Mid level racer, racing Fischer WC RC4 boots and Rossi 9SL 165's for both SL and GS (short GS courses not much speed buildup).
What edge angles do you recommend for a tune? Note: the Rossi 9SL's were purposely chosen to avoid the stiff nature of the FIS style race skis. Trying to go a different direction with the skis this season and see if that helps improve performance. (previously skied on 6 year old Dobermann, 155 World Cup SLR's ........the new Rossis he will be using have a 124-70-112 sidecut and 12m Radius). He is 175lbs and 5'11".
When I picked these up from the shop, they said "we always tune to a 1 base and 1.5 edge"
I was a bit confused as I have always been under the impression a .5/3 was the best for racers (especially in the conditions we see here).
is a 1/1.5 too "light" and edge or should i be moving him to 1/3 or .5/3?
Like I said, he is mid level HS racer (midwest hills), not too steep, not too fast and short courses.
Looking to give him some help with edge hold so he doesn't lose and edge and blowout of the course but at the same time don't want to hinder him with too sharp and edge?
