ski lenght dynastar legend 85 verses blizzard 8.5

I have the legend 85 in a 178, I like the ski, didn't get to ski as much as I would have liked to last season because of conditions. However, I hear a lot about the blizzard 8.5, the foot print is almost exactly the same as my legend. The legend has only a tip early rise, witch is fine with me, the blizzard has early rise tip and tale. The blizzard lentghs are 174 and 181, witch puts my legend right in between. I think the probability of demoing both lengths in the blizzard is not likely. I use my dynastars for my everyday ski, and I also like the bumps. My question is , has anybody skied and compared these two skis, for all around mtn. skiing ? and also , if I where to purchase the blizzard, witch lentgh would be preferable, 174 or 181,. Again all mtn. Vail type skiing. Any replys would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

How big of a guy are you? I have skied both, (and when I ski a L85, I will ski that in the 178) and you can go either way depending on how you want it to fit in your quiver. The 174 is more nimble and the 181 will make a longer turn, you can go either way depending on the characteristics you want out of it.

thanks for the quick reply, I am 5'10--180lbs----I thought they might have skied short, with rocker tip and tail (blizzard) I couldn't get my hands on a pair to demo last season in the 2 lengths that I wanted, 174 - 181. My legend has a flat tail verses the blizzard. Like all of us, we want one ski to do it all. But we also know, that. that ski does not exist. I also have dynastar legend 94, (178) wicth is also a great ski, but my go to ski for most days is the 85 legend. Because it is allmost the same footprint, the difference would be in the construction of the material. Thank you for your input.

Thanks Philpug-------my quiver is the 85 legend--94 legend-- and Rossi S7---------like I said in the earliier thread. I ski mostly on the 85"s because of  snow conditions . I am not looking for a bump ski, my biggest question I guess is, and in fact it is. Is the 8.5 better all mountain ski than my dynastar legend 85. And is it better in the bumps than the legend? I need to replace my legend 85"s like I need a bad cold. But I guess we are all looking for that magic ski. Thank You

Philpug - I saw your article about the MX88. You stated that the 188 was disproportionate to size, what do you mean? I'm 50 yo, ski 60+ 5'10, 182 lbs.

Any suggestion would be helpful, thanks.

It kinda does, the 8.0Ti in a 179. Since you do have the Rossi S7 and you wand this ski to be better in the bumps, for your size, I do think you will be happy with the 174.

For your size, the 178 is the right size of the MX88s
