Hey everyone. I'm a longtime Trip Adviser poster, but this is my first here. It dawned on me that there must be a board just for ski discussion, and now here I am.
Here is my situation: I'm 49, my son is 24. We have been skiing forever in New England and just started out west a few years ago. Now, I like to plan one trip every year for 4 days. We have been to Canyons, Deer Valley, Alta, Snowbird, PCMR in Utah. In Colorado we have hit Keystone, Breck, and A-Basin.
So, I'm here to gather suggestions for our next rip- probably in March. I LOVE all the mountains we have skied so far. I think DV may be my favorite, but I loved SB and Alta (and A-Basin) for the crazy, above tree-line bowl skiing. I like open bowls that are not TOO steep and hairy!
I consider myself a "collector" of sorts and love to try new resorts. Some of the places we'd love to try are:
Powder and SnowBasin
Vail and Beaver Creek
Lake Tahoe (not sure which resorts)
Some of these I am more familiar with than others and some might not work at all due to their location. We need a condo (with pool, hot tub) that doesn't need to be big or extravagant. We don't care about nightlife or fancy restaurants. We like to ski hard all day, maybe hit a bar, hot tub, cook some spaghetti, and start again in the morning!
So, I hope someone can suggest a great trip (it doesn't have to be one of the places I mentioned). Again, we don't need fancy and don't want to spend too much on the trip.
Thanks everyone, and if anyone has any questions about the resorts we have tried, please let me know. I'll try to contribute what I can!
