Rocky Mounts bike racks

Thread Starter

I need to get a new bike rack to use on my Subaru Outback so I can carry 3-4 bikes, 3 is minimum.  I'm thinking about this one http://www.rockymounts.com/Locking_TailPipe_3_p/1048.htm  Does anyone have experience with Rocky Mounts racks?

I have had three on the top of my Outback when needed the past few summers. Don't remember the model but it looks like this one: http://www.rockymounts.com/bike_racks_pitchfork_p/0436.htm

One of the three arrived without a piece (it was either the rear wheel strap or the bracket for the rear crossbar); I called and they sent out the replacement immediately with no questions asked. No issues with the racks since. I take them off for winter.

I have the pitchfork for my road ride as well. Pretty sweet setup.  Easy to install and the LBS said Rocky Mount stands by their products.  Cheaper than the Thule options in my area.

really late to the game...

...check out 1upusa.com

imho.. probably the best platform rack out there.  I had a Yakima Holdup previously.  They are not cheap enough.

I have a couple and don't really like them.  We carry a lot of different bikes around and I found the adjustment mechanism to be a PITA.

If you only are going to use one bike per rack and won't need to re-adjust all of the time they are fine.

THat's usually an issue with fork-mounted roof racks.  The ones that hold the wheels are more flexible.

HOwever.... I'm not a fan of the Yakima Frontloader.  The Yakima HighRoller is a much better rack, though not universal mount design
