I think it was 2 seasons ago now that I thought I saw Wayne Wong skiing bumps on Zot at Mid Vail. After seeing the current pictures of him in the Cressted Butte brochure I'm sure it was him. The day I spotted him he was even wearing the same black Norway type sweater.

Anyway he can still ski bumps very well. Wish I would have been able to share a lift ride . He was skiing by himself that day. He had K2 skis on too! Old habits die hard I guess.

Were they old K2 skis? ;-)

Wayne did a demo at Big White in 1973 or 74 with Floyd Wilke. His tricks were tame by later standards but the fluidity of whatever he did was mesmerizing. A friend has 8mm shaky cam footage of the memorable day and I have been bugging him to digitize it. I will post a link if he ever does.

And I am told it is Wayne's birthday today.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY WAYNE!!!

Happy Birthday Wayne.

Birthday on the same day as the passing of a ski pioneer. Émile Allais passed-away overnight at the age of 100. (started a thread on it)

Lake Louise staff recently found a projector and film cannisters in one of their storage rooms, nobody knew what was on any of it.  They sent it into Calgary to get digitized, and are going to be releasing all the old films weekly for awhile...

Turns out it's alot of promotional material for LL...

The first was released last week featuring The Hot Dogger himself:

^^^^^^^^^^^^^That reminds me. Wayne won the powder eights with Saku Kakisaka 3 years in a row in the 80s at Mike Wiegele Heli Skiing, Blue River.

He always seems to have the best hair when skiing.

I think he has the best hair, period!  If I had any left I'd wear it long too!  ;-)
