Salomon Twenty Twelve (2012)

Hi all,

I'm new the forum and I just bought The 2012 Salomon "Twenty Twelves" in 171cm. I am 5'10, 190lbs with all ski gear on and have skied/snowboarded for 20+ years. I have skied on 167cm K2 recon (2006-07) for quite a few years when I'm not snowboarding.

After MUCH reading about Twin tip, rocker/camber/rocker skies like this,  I am now ordering the 186cm (I know 179 may be ideal but not as cheap/available right now online). I am just worried I won't have much stability at speed on groom or crud at 171cm.

Any thought on which would be better for me? Love groomers, trees, Hitting bumps at all speeds and want to ski backwards occasionally or the fun 180 off a drop, etc.I will do some moguls as well but not always my preference.

As far as park, not so much .... a  few table tops when I feel comfortable - (I'm getting too old to wreck myself) although I will do some powder when it's available as well ;)

Thoughts? Anyone have these in a 186 or 171?  I will need to return one pair.

Thanks!

171- it's too short for someone 190 lbs.  Send it back.

186- may feel a bit long at first, but you'll quickly get used to it.  Really, since it's a twintip and rockered, it will feel like a conventional ski in the 170-175cm range.

Thanks Mike - This helps - I know it's not massive rocker and the ski tends to use most of the edge in the soft stuff (from what I've read)  - I figure for me, fully geared (boots etc,) at 190lbs I can really USE the 186 to it's full potential if I lay into it - again I will eventually get a fatter "powder/big mountain" ski so I wanted this to do MOST of my daily skiing (in trees too) I know it's not going to cut through ice at high speed regardless of length and I don't expect it to, just want a fun, all mountain ski :)
