Ski Instructors Initiative....

.... I noticed yesterday, that the Italian Ski Federation are doing a tour of Towns and City's around Italy, promoting their skills and occupations. Quiet a big set up with the use of one of those Skiplex ( http://www.skiplex.co.uk/ ) type rolling ski carpets...showing ski drills. Also getting the public actively involved. There are pictures on their FB page ( AMSI ).

I was wondering any other Ski Organisations tour their Countries promoting their Profession?

I thought it was a very pro active idea, especially in this economic climate...also considering how hard Italy has been hit recently.

I don't know whether this something they've always done...or just because of the unsure climate.

Any thoughts appreciated...

PSIA does not do this, but ...

PSIA has had booths at ski shows in the past.

Glenn Plake tours resorts every year and now he's in PSIA.

PSIA has hosted open training events (e.g. Whistler of all places)

Michael Rogan writes in Ski magazine every issue (with his PSIA demo creds in the byline)

PSIA has focused on "Go with a Pro" video clips for promoting ski drills and lesson taking (sort of an on air version of the road show concept)

The 'Go with a Pro' vids are a great idea, but much too short per segment. If the intro didn't take nearly half the entire clip, it'd make a huge difference in their overall usefulness. I'm sure it's still a work in progress though, so this is only a critique vs. full blown criticism. Now if they could get Glen to do some of them, that'd be fun!

Thanks for the reply's....

I'll have to check the 'Go with a Pro' Vids out.

I just thought it was a very interesting concept by the Italians and very pro active. Especially with the economic climate.

Strange the PSIA used Whistler for training events.

I could see the likes of the CSIA doing something similar to the Italians in somewhere like Vancouver. Or do they already?
