I saw another video of this guy doing some unbelievable stuff on a mountain bike.  This guy is amazing.

I thought that too, but all of his landings appear to be fairly soft - lots of shock absorption in the legs.

Carbon wheels are tougher than you think.  During one of the sprints in the 2011 TDF Cavendish had an encounter with someone and started to go down.  The video clearly showed his front wheel folding to what looked close to 90 degrees and then it sprang back into shape.  I was pretty astonished that any wheel could do that.
