Hey how is everyone doing? I recently was laid off from my job which i hated as a financial analyst in new jersey and have my goals set on moving west and getting a ski job and then hopefully finding something a little more secure. I have been applying to alot of mountain jobs in breckenridge, copper, alta, snowbird etc, but I have yet to hear anything back and I am starting to panic. So I have a few question for you guys.
1. Am I over Qualified?
I have been applying to basic ski jobs, ie lift operator, retail shop clerk etc. I am starting to wonder if I am not geting a response because I am over qualified for these positions?
2 Am I under qualified?
I am starting to think since I came from the financial world that I may not be what they are looking for. It seems that they want hospitality and customer service experience. I do have experience in sale and as an assistant manager in automotive repair but that was over 5 years ago. How should I be selling myself to these people?
3 What job do I really want
My main goal is to be able to to ski as much as I can. I also am a pretty active person and sitting in a cubicle for 5 years at my old job almost drove me insane, so I am leaning toward a more dynamic job like a bell person or a snowmaker vs something like ticket sales or a lift operator. What are your thoughts and suggestion. I really appreciate any help. If anyone has any other suggestions of places to apply other than the mountain directly I would greatly appreciate it. I NEED OUT OF NEW JERSEY BAD! If I do not make a change and ski this winter I may lose my mind. Thanks everyone and enjoy your day
