2013 Northern Vermont Gathering - Page 3

Dragged my wife and daughter to the movie. Was good, but way too long. I actually won a raffle prize, membership in the Hoboken Ski Club (who knew?), a Killington lift ticket, and $20.00 Liftopia gift card!

Can count on me.

Know all centers well.

Well slight change in my plans. Have a good family friend getting married that Saturday. Going to drive up Sunday and make it for Monday and Tuesday of the Gathering. Probably go up to Jay Peak on Wednesday for anyone who wants to stay and hang out.

Not sure, there might be a period or something at the end of the link that's messing it up?  Here's the link again:

That one works.  Thanks!

Good to see it's still the 1st weekend in March. Likely Sun-Tuesday for me (need a day to get there and can't leave til Sat that week).  Timing should work for me so I'll try to join the frey.

Might be able to make it to Stowe Tues.

ok.. im late to the party.. since "lil ripper" attends school in burlington -  we are game.. plus, last year, i barely got to ski with slow eddie, crank and kevin f  and the rest of the gang at MRG.  not too mention that, i didnt ski at all with epic nor josh or bwpa ( as he's formally known) . that reference kinda reminds of when nicky got whacked in goodfellas and lefty said to donnie," don't say his name"... poor josh... he cant help himself sometimes- although he was very gracious to my son, chris, heidi and i - and the way i see it- he's a solid skier..... im sorry but i forget the "nom de plume" of another terrific person / skier - who is the middlebury ski coach (was he the man whose house burnt to the ground?)

is this gathering still on? very little dialogue for several weeks......

best to all of you....

The "nom de plume" of the Middlebury ski coach is snowbowler (Middlebury Snow Bowl).

Yes, the gathering is very much still on.  I was getting nervous as pretty much all the "interesting" terrain was closed for a while, but we seem to be getting back into a snow cycle, so hopefully we'll have some good conditions.

I'm still planning to come up for about 5 ski days during this event with my 22 year old son.  We probably won't arrive until Saturday night. I may talk to a southern contingent about how many are coming up and trying to rentin a small house/apt to stay from approximately Sat to Thurs.  Need to focus on this soon as date is approaching.  I've had a sore knee that made me a little hesitant, but skied on it this weekend for the first time in a while and it seems about 80% and getting better so I think I'm good to go.

I am still planning to come plus 1 possibly 2.  Have a gig Friday night in Pittsfield, MA, so will either meet up with you all later in the morning Saturday or possibly Sunday.  The Thunderbolt race is that Saturday on Mt Greylock and since I will be staying right nearby there I might go to check it out.  Planning on staying up north through Tuesday.

Chrisandy, If you want, bring a guitar and we can jam. I still say Neil Young is a great guitarist! lol

I'm fairly new here on Epic but would love to attend the gathering.  May not work this time.

I certainly don't mean to hi-jack the thread, but by chance will anyone be up at Stowe this Fri-Sat (Feb 22-23)?  I know my way around (off the piste, that is) a bit, but would love to be able to explore some more with someone that knows the areas well.  Thanks!

National play hooky with super cheap tickets march 4th through the 8th (Sunday River 7 Sugarbush $59, MRG for $29, etc)

I did not recall the actual planned dates for this trip but hopefully we can leverage this program for some discounted lift tickets!

3/2/13:  Sugarbush, 1 day $80, 2 day $150

3/3:  Sugarbush, 1 day $76

3/4:  MRG, 1 day $42

3/5:  Stowe, 1 day $80

Looks tempting. But the list on the roll call looks to be a pretty hard core crowd. Don't think I can hang...

Due to scheduling and vacation time problems I can't go to Big Sky (boo...) but I can go to this (whoo!)

You can hang with my fiancee on Monday and Tuesday... and I'm not sure how 'core most folks are gonna look at MRG after two full days at Sugarbush, either.

I'm primarily a weekend warrior. Monday maybe a possibility.Tuesday out of the question.

Actually, I'm trying to go for Big Sky. That's why I can't take weekday off.

Yeah, if I could swing Big Sky I'd probably just be at this on Sat/Sun.

I'm unlikely to be hard charging for two full days, at least.  My bum ankle's been acting up somewhat.  I'm sure there will be a few other easygoing types, at least from the +1 department...

I'm sure you won't be alone in wanting to cruise vs. hit bump/tree runs all the time.  I know I'll be taking some easier runs in order to make it through four straight days!  So, if you can make it, you are welcome to attend.

Matt, it'll be great to ski with you again!

Just as a conditions update, I was at Sugarbush today (South side).  The snow is great right now; nice and soft.  Even end-of-the-day runs weren't hitting ice.

Bump runs are a little thin; my bases are fine, edges are a little beat up though.

And, more snow is in the forecast for all next week!  All the areas should be 100% open!

mad.gif Looks like I got the days wrong.  I may not be able to make this one afterall as I already am booked with my 2 boys @ SnowShoe through the 4th  mad.gif

I was planning on dropping them back home and then skiing with the "adults" through the week.  I must have missed a post somewhere.

Thanks for the kind words and welcome.

SB and MRG are definitely a pair on my to-do list. And the timing seems to be good too.

Knowing a couple of the bears on the list, my reservation is on terrain as well speed. Don't want to hold up the group too much.

I'll hunt around for lodging/lift deals, and see if I can swing Monday off.

I have 2 extra Sugarbush tickets I would love to sell for cost.  I think I paid $49 per ticket.  WIll be getting there a little late on Saturday but they will definitely be available for Sunday.

Sugarbush has various weather links here:  sugarbush.com/snow-trails-conditions/live-weather-report.  Or, if you prefer the MRG blog:  http://madriverglenweather.blogspot.com/, which also makes this week sound good.

Thanks for the weather/conditions updates.  I'm trying to strategize about lift tickets and ski area choices.  My son and I are committed to joining you guys for the second through fourth days of the gathering, but then I have two more ski days and could fill them with a three day MRG ticket off liftopia (priced at less than one day at Stowe).  Would that be a mistake or do you think the natural conditions at MRG are good to go at this time?  We enjoy MRG when it is on.  I guess I could wait until Sunday morning at Sugarbush, but would have to decide then whether to keep two extra prepurchased SB tickets for later use or liquidate them like Crank.  Alternatively, I could also do the two extra days at Sugarbush South and North quite affordably.

We may bring a third person with us and I could swing between both ability groups.  My son will probably prefer the stronger group.

I'm hoping to make MRG on Monday, at least.
