C'mon, Tuna. OK, skiing is more like golf than boxing in the sense that ultimately one competes against the course, and not directly against the other participant(s). However for example you don't think a golfer being paired with Tiger Woods has an impact on his performance? ( OK, maybe a little less so recently. ;-)
By getting into the mix and competing with (and indirectly, against) the big boys she would definitely be doing something very different. It takes bal, er, ovar, er, hmm, gumption to be willing to get into the arena under the kind of scrutiny/pressure that would inevitably be focused on her. It is in a sense a stunt, but as it has been noted many times here it is drawing attention to the sport.
I think she should be applauded for being willing to try, and I think she should be allowed to do it. And let her do it on something approaching a level playing field. If she does well and proves she can compete then maybe more difficult races later on.
Lastly, as per the article Bazzer pointed to above, let her start 31st. And why not just add one extra slot for this race only, so that some guy doesn't lose his? It is a special deal, so make an exception.
