That depends. If a fixed grip chair ascends a steep slope you get more vertical with respect to the time spent riding the lift. Taos is a good example of a place that doesn't particularly need high speed lifts to get in a lot of skiing. Castle is the same way to some extent, as it produced my only lifetime 30/20 day: 30K vertical, 20K of powder.
