Hello,

How do you get to Vail from Summit County without a car?  (Yes, I know I can walk.)  Are there any hostels at Vail?  Thanks.

Greyhound Frisco to Vail.  I don't know of any hostels, but the Turntable Motel in Minturn is pretty dam cheap.

Umm I'm not sure you cna get to vail from Breck. The summit express does run all the way to Copper and you could try and hitch hike form there but it's kinda hard. I wouldn't recommend trying to walk it's actually kinda far.

Honestly, unless you have a season pass or it's a big snow day I wouldn't head up to Vail. It's super expensive and unless you know the place your gunna spend all day on Cat tracks. Abasin and keystone both have buses and decent skiing. Keystone isn't the place for experts but if your beginner or intermediate it's great. The tree skiing is also some of the best there if you like that.

Abasin is great for the atmosphere and has some great skiing as well. Honestly if your at Breck its a great place to ski. If you don't know the mountain well pm me and I can give you some great places to go.

I'd call up Colorado Mountain Express and inquire with them. Won't be the cheapest option, but they are pretty good about getting people around ski country. I am sans car and I hit them up a lot during ski season to get down to Aspen.

Traveling between their different ski areas (at least in Summit and Eagle counties) seems like something Vail Resorts could/should facilitate in some way. If a shuttle of some kind is out of the question, then perhaps at least use their new focus on social networking to bring people together for ride sharing. Doing so would be in line with at least a couple of their professed beliefs...

Hello all,

Thanks a lot for the useful information.  It is long drive from New York to Summit County.  It is 1900 miles if memory serves.  I did it once before.  The drive took two days (6 am -midnight both days).  That was 12 years ago.  Now I get double vision after 5 hours of driving.  So it is going to take a bit longer.  But I will have a car.  There is just so much more freedom with a car.  Can't wait.
