Ski instructor/guide wanted at Vail, CO during Feb 3 & 4, 2013

Hi All,

My family (a couple & a 13-yr boy) is going to have a ski holiday at Vail Resort, CO during Feb 3~6, 2013. This is our first time

to ski at Vail so we need a ski guide to lead us to ski over there and also to polish our ski skill. We only have 2-yr ski experience and the skill level is almost the same. If anyone is interested and available during that time, you can leave your message to me.

Cheers,

Jeremy

Hi, Jeremy,

Send a PM to "Bob Barnes" (head coach at the Epic Ski Academy and a Rocky Mountain PSIA  instructor trainer/examiner.  He teaches at Copper Mountain (30 minutes from Vail) now, but taught at Vail as well.  You can book him for all-day lessons for your family through the Copper Mountain Ski School.  He's one of the recognized top 100 instructors in the country.

Have fun!

Jeremy,

Please be advised that Vail is on US Forest Service land and that private guiding or instruction is illegal there. EpicSki strongly recommends that you use services only provided through the Vail Ski School. You may find someone here on Epic (aka a Barking Bear) who is willing to show you around, but no money should be exchanged.

The OP might check out this resource as well: http://www.epicski.com/a/epicski-instructor-and-coach-listing-colorado

Obviously any request should be made through the snowsports school at Vail.

FYI, Private lessons by any VRI pro include the option to ski with our clients at any of our properties. (Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, and Keystone.) It's a cool and little known benefit of working for VRI.

Copper instructors are allowed to teach at Vail, and any other Vail Resorts mountain, so long as the mountain is notified.  The lessons are booked through the Copper Mountain Ski School.  Totally above board and done all the time.

Does booking through Copper's ski school require purchase of a Copper lift ticket?

I'd guess that Vail LOVES to get lift ticket funds from Copper skiers biggrin.gif

Hi, Kneale!

Just the purchase of an all-day private lesson at Copper is required.   The Vail lift ticket is separate.  Instructors usually drive over to the other mountain with the clients.  Vail Resorts instructors are also welcome to bring their clients to Copper.  In that case, a Vail all-day private lesson is purchased first.  Usually, the mountains like the visiting instructors with clients to wear their home-mountain uniforms.  Makes for some good-natured ribbing when we see them.

Best!

Mike
