Not sure if anyhow has skied both but I am considering selling my 09 Sultans for the Buschwacker for skiing primarilty in the East with a few West trips a year. The ski dimensions are quite close in that the Sultans are a126/85/110 while the Bushwackers are 125/88/110....I love the Sultans exept for the high GS speed chattering. I also am wondering if the slight rocker on the Buskwackers will make this an easier ski in the powder. I actually enjoyed the Legend in this area too but wondering if I will see a significant change in performance on BW? For the bumps, both skis I presume would be decent. Thanks for any input...I am 5 ft 8 solid 190 lb, fit, 47 yrs old and ski 40 days a year. I am looking at the 173 since I want to stay in this length for the trees and tighter chute areas.
Thanks for any guidance here.
I don't think the early rise is going to make a huge difference in soft snow. Perhaps if it were wider, but if you have the Sultan 85, and a BW 88, they will have comparable float. Something closer to 95mm is going to be an upgrade in float though.
the Sultan is a bit more stable, powerful ski than the BW, which is lighter and more playful. It will be likely to chatter more than the Sultan. If you want a heavier, more damp ski, you may need to look at something a little more substantial than either of these 2. The Volkl Kendo is that width and pretty glued to the snow, as is the Kastle MX88. I found, in that width, that the Amphibio 88 xti is pretty sweet, as is the new Outland 85 from Dynastar. Both are sweet in bumps, playful, powerful, strong, and well balanced.
