Some mileages for those driving to Big Sky from farther away than the Bozeman airport.  These are round numbers, not exactly what pops out of Google Maps.

Big Sky to West Yellowstone, MT - 60 miles

Big Sky to Driggs, ID - 150 miles (Driggs is 12 miles from Grand Targhee)

Big Sky to Rexburg, ID - 150 miles (on US20, south of Targhee Nat Forest)

Big Sky to Jackson Hole, WY - 180 miles

Big Sky to Butte, MT - 125 miles (no mountain driving)

Butte to SLC - 425 miles, all interstate

Rexburg, ID to SLC - 250 miles

Big Sky to SLC - 400 miles via US20

Big Sky to SLC via Butte - 550 miles, lots of miles on I-15

I drive pretty fast and I recall SLC to Bozeman being 7 hours in March 2001.  No bad weather but snow on the road in the West Yellowstone area, which is to be expected IMHO.  The time to Jackson is a touch optimistic also.

Phil and I have been thinking of driving to JH to ski with some Bears for a few days, then go to Big Sky.

We figured  12 hrs to JH,

Then about 4 +/- hours from JH to Big Sky.

The drive home should be about 13ish hours from Big Sky to Reno.

My ski buddies and I are meeting up in SLC.  Going to stop at Driggs for a night and ski Grand Targhee before heading to Big Sky.

Have heard from a friend who lives in SLC that it's about 7 hours to Big Sky, assuming reasonable driving conditions.  BZNpow is obviously an optimist. wink.gif

That timing sounds about right.  7 ish hours from Reno to SLC then another 7 to Big Sky.

I did it in about 11 hours straight through at about 70-75 mph.  I went up through Idaho Falls and along the left edge of Yellowstone rather than across to SLC then up.  Traffic was light though there were a few two lane roads that had potential to be slow if behind grandma.

Big Sky sounds tempting though!!!?

You guys are going to make me regret missing the pre-party by flying to bozeman instead of jackson.
