2012 Line Blend Sizing

Hi there

I am currently looking at skis to buy for the upcoming season, I had my mind set on the 2013 Sir Francis Bacons but I can get a good deal on a pair of last year's Blends in 178cm, so I thought I'd get that and put the money I saved into getting some better boots.

I'll be skiing Niseko and other mountains in Hokkaido, which makes me wonder if the 178 length and the 100mm is going to be enough for me. I'm 6' and around 140lbs, I'm hoping to ski mainly off piste/trees, with some groomers and park as well (maybe like 50/20/30). I'm an intermediate-advanced skier, but hoping to improve quite a bit this year.

So basically, two questions:

- Will the Blends be good enough for Japanese powder?

- Will the 178 be long enough?

Some enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.

I have some older Line Blends that do not have the rocker, but do have the same dimensions 132-100-122. My understanding is that last year's had a little bit of rocker but were not drastically different.  I am 5 feet 9 inches and 161 lbs. I have found them to be a fantastic quiver of 1 ski for out west. I don't think you can go wrong with the Blends in 178 given your size and skill level, but the SFB will probably be a little bit better in powder.

Good luck!

Cool, thanks for the feedback.

Yeah for my weight I feel like 100mm would be plenty but I'm not sure if the extra rocker and length of the SFB (I would be going 184) would be beneficial.

These are my first fat skis, so feeling quite lost and I do want to pick up skis while bargains are still available rather than waiting until winter to demo some..

I use an older pair of Line Blends in 178 as my primary Telemark set up in all conditions at Jackson Hole.  I think they're great skis.  I'm 5'10" and 175 lbs.
